Namaste Y'all!

Today we thought we would share some kids party decoration ideas with you all. We have a bunch of baby cousins and always end up doing the decorations for their birthday parties. We compiled a step by step process that we hope makes it easier to decorate for your next event.

Step 1: Pick a theme- whether it's princess, rainbow, cars, dinosaurs etc., having a theme will make everything fall into place better.

Step 2: Based on your theme, pick out colors you want to use. We recently decorated for a "Thomas the Train" first birthday party so we used blue and green as our main colors.

Step 3: Make a list of items you think you'll need to purchase. This list usually consists of items like streamers, balloons, a backdrop, happy birthday banners, plates, silverware, napkins, party favors, loot bags, and games.

Step 4: the CAKE! Knowing your guestlist beforehand will help in deciding what size of cake you will need to get. We HIGHLY recommend SAMs club cakes. SAMs club does tiered cakes that are really affordable and cute. The sheet cakes are good there as well (Costco's sheet cakes are awesome also).

Step 5: Once you have all of the equipment you will need to decorate, you should pick a location for where you want to set up the cake. That location tends to be the focal point and the area that should be decorated the most. After that, we like to decorate large open areas around the cake cutting location.

Decoration Ideas:

  • We usually like to have a backdrop thats related to the theme behind the cake table, and decorate the cake table with a tablecloth, and confetti on the cake table.
  • If you have a large entrance and staircase, we like to drape and hang streamers to make it more festive.
  • Balloons are a super easy decoration idea. You can basically stick them anywhere to make it more festive
We hope these tips and photos inspire and help you in your next decoration venture!
