Namaste Y'all,

Whenever we start a "diet" we often restrict ourselves and end up craving something very hearty and satisfying. Instead of continuing that vicious cycle, we found some recipes that are healthy but don't make you feel like you're on a diet.

One of these recipes is a delicious turkey chili. This recipe is chock full of fiber and protein so it leaves you very full and satisfied.

Lets just right into the recipe!


Turkey Chili
Servings: 6

Ingredients: 
  • 1lb ground turkey
  • 1 yellow onion - diced
  • 1/2 red bellpepper - diced
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper- diced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt (and more for taste)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed black pepper
  • dash of hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1-1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 can black beans - drained and rinsed
  • 1 can kidney beans- drained and rinsed
  • 1 can whole kernel corn- drained and rinsed
Instructions:
  1. add olive oil to pan. Once heated, add onions, garlic, and peppers and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.
         

  2. Add turkey and break it up and cook until it is no longer pink. Add  salt, chili powder, sugar, cumin, oregano, and black pepper and stir for 20 seconds.

             
              3. Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, black beans, kidney beans, and corn. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until chili thickens. Add additional seasonings or salt if necessary.
