We are so excited to go back to school! I know it's not everyday someone says that (maybe not ever lol) but after 3 months of free time, we are ready for some structure again. College has always been fun for us in the way that it gives us freedom to explore and be independent. Since Ess and I are going to be living together, it's going to be better than ever!

We wanted to share a couple of our back to school looks with you all that easy but look put together.  I know in my freshman year, I lived in sweatpants and free t-shirts. Because who has time to put effort into building outfits every day in college? This year we've made it our goal to have a wardrobe made up of more than t-shirts and sweats. We have been working on a well rounded capsule which we will be sharing with you all. For now, we wanted to share a few looks we put together using the pieces from our capsules.

Today we are getting ethnic on the blog. As we mentioned before, we are South Indian and have a ton of family nearby so a lot of our get-togethers involve Indian attire. We recently attended a birthday party and thought we would share our outfits and accessories with you.

We both wore traditional Salwar Kameez's but they were different in style.



Cee wore a long-sleeve, floor length dress that has embroidery across the bust. This style of Salwar Kameez has been very trendy of late. Cee accesorized with nice chand bali style earrings and a simple chain. This outfit is very elegant and doesn't require much else.

Ess wore a cotton Anarkali style dress with stone work on the bust. Ess accesorized with some metal bangles on one wrist and a watch on the other for some contrast.

We both kept our hair and makeup simple with a little pop of color on the lips.

This is a variation of the usual attire we wear when we're going to an Indian party. We hope we could help offer you some ideas! :)

I (Ess) recently took a quick trip to Seattle for the weekend. I completely fell in love with the city and thought I would share what I did with all of you! Me and my cousin decided to get City Passes so we could see a lot of the main attractions while saving a little money. 


Our flight landed in Seattle on Friday evening and I thought it would be cool to visit the space needle at night so we could see the city with all its lights. But I was so excited that I forgot my camera :( I took a few photos with my phone but it did no justice to the beauty of the city at night. 



 The last City Pass stop we made was to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. All of the exhibits were so different from the last and so stunning. It was probably my favorite thing we saw in our trip. Highly HIGHLY recommend visiting!

We wanted to share our favorite looks for when you want to stay warm in the chilly weather but still be stylish and awesome for any occasion. We've styled five different outfits for different occasions. All of the looks have layers, which make them very versatile and easy to transition into spring. We hope you like them! :)

                                              Sunday Brunch 

This would be an outfit for brunch or lunch with family or friends. We went for an emerald dress and grey slouchy cardigan that's gonna keep your warm and comfy but still look chic and put together. The black booties make the outfit sophisticated yet still comfortable. 

                                          Work the trench 

 We think this outfit is formal enough to wear to work or even a dinner/movie date. The white jeans and fuschia top are great colors for both day or night occasions. The trench coat really pulls together the whole look giving it class. The TOMs shoes we paired with the outfit keep it casual and easy to wear for long days. 

                                        Shopping/Outdoorsy date

        This outfit has a slouchy sweater and nice colorful blazer and scarf for a pop of color. This outfit is great to layer so it would be good for a day nice winter day spent outside. Whether you are out shopping, running errands, or taking a long walk and hanging out with friends outside, this outfit would be great. The riding boots are also long and will keep you warm as well as being comfortable to walk in. 

                                                 Rock the Party 

                                                  Super casual

             This outfit is so casual and can be worn just hanging out, maybe to class or anything casual. The entire outfit is very light: White Converse, light wash jeans, light wash chambray shirt, and white t-shirt. The utility jacket give a nice contrast to the look and bring it together.

Today we thought we would share some of our staple party recipes. We made this spread for our New Years party and it was a big hit with our guests (not just our moms). Our menu consisted of: Fried Kimchi balls as an appetizer, a mushroom and spinach penne pasta for our main course, trifle cake for dessert, and raspberry sherbet punch for a beverage. This was just our contribution to our otherwise Indian potluck party. Let's just jump right into the recipes.

Fried Kimchi Rice Balls (20 Servings)
inspired by Seoul Sausage food truck

Ingredients
2 cups uncooked jasmine rice
1lb kimchi diced
1lb kimchi blended
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup frozen green peas
1 cup shiitake mushrooms
1 bunch green onions
1 tablespoon chili garlic paste
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 cups cheddar cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese
3 eggs
3 tablespoons flour
Panko breadcrumbs
Spicy Mayo


Process
1. Cook rice and let it cool overnight
2. In a large pan or wok, heat oil. Once hot, add chopped bulb of green onion.
3. Once green onions are wilted, add diced mushrooms, frozen peas, and diced kimchi. Stir until sufficiently cooked through.

4. Add blended kimchi and chili garlic sauce.
5. After 1 minute, add the cooled rice and mix well. Add soy sauce and salt if needed.
6.  Let the kimchi fried rice cool completely (at least 2 hours).
7. After the rice is cool, mix in chopped green onion, 1whole egg,1 tablespoon flour, and cheeses and mix well.



8. Form balls in desired size. We found it helpful to use an ice-cream scooper for uniform size and well shaped balls.
9. Set up a dredging station. Coat the formed balls in flour, egg, and lastly panko breadcrumbs.
10. Heat oil and fry those balls!


11. drizzle fried balls with spicy mayo




Spinach and Mushroom Penne Pasta (16 servings)

Recipe inspired by http://allrecipes.com/recipe/89334/portobello-penne-pasta-casserole/?scale=16&ismetric=0 (doubled and slightly modified)

Ingredients
16oz package uncooked penne pasta
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 lb portobello mushrooms (sliced)
1 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon dried basil
4 cups milk
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 (10 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
salt
pepper
garlic powder

 Raspberry Sherbet Punch (20 servings)

Ingredients
1. Raspberry sherbet (48oz) thawed
2. 1 liter Blood orange Italian soda
3. 2 liter ginger ale
4. 2 liter 7up
5. Fresh or frozen mixed berries (for garnish) - optional

Procedure
1. In a large punch bowl, mix together all of the ingredients. (we recommend adding sherbet first to reduce spillage). 
2. ENJOY

With the New year right around the corner, resolutions are right there with it. Along with the cliche resolutions of "new year new me", eating healthy, working out more, etc. we have decided to start this blog to document our struggles with maintaining these resolutions and other experiences this year will bring. In our blog, you will soon find posts about fashion, travels, food, DIYs, and other adventures.

We are two girl friends who happen to be cousins who happen to be neighbors, that end up doing basically everything together. You can call us Cee and Ess. Cee is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree (STILL) and Ess has just completed hers (FINALLY). Cee likes reading longggg books, summer days, and arts and crafts. Ess likes cooking, pinterest pinning, and finding a good deal (don't we all though??). We also happen to be South Indian-American, trying to find the perfect balance of both cultures. Welcome to our journey, we hope you'll come along!
